Social Photography - Magazine   -   Revue   -   Magazine

"Verdana", "sans-serif", "lang =" ES-TRAD ">" Edward Olive perfectly embodies the eclectic and interdisciplinary spirit that characterizes    contemporary creation, in his career he has worked as a lawyer, law professor, actor of short, long and dubbing television and photographer. Currently work continues to interpretation, works for television and photo assignments made, wedding stories, books for actors, singers, models ... which he combines with his personal work.

To Edward Olive photograph means to capture emotions, feelings, and experience with different equipment and materials, cameras, lomo, Holga, Hasselblad classic, reels that exceeded their expiration date ... any action can be very successful in their hands. That is what has been done since he made his first job almost by chance when he decided to help a fellow actor that I needed a book.

Their stories are unique wedding, full of strength and subtlety, which, like the rest of his images are a result of its continuous search that immortalize emotions, for it is essential naturalness, the sincere expression of feelings, poses forced away from typical and topical. His work is fresh and highly personal. The control of light, tones, composition, a delicate simplicity, contribute   to create an atmosphere evocative and fascinating. Poetic images produced by a poetic talent. "

Bio

Edward Olive Was a commercial litigation lawyer in London & Paris Until throwing in the towel to Pursue Interests historical artistic working more as a professional   screen actor, Since 2002 based in Madrid, Spain.

"Verdana", "sans-serif", "lang =" EN-US "> Edward got Into photography by chance only in 2005 When He Purchased His first camera (an entry level digital SLR Canon 350d) to shoot His Own actor's book on a tripod with remote control. Finding enjoyed the experience I've started shooting actor & musician friends & the people living and working in historical Chueca neighborhood (central Madrid's equivalent of Soho or Le Marais).

Again by chance in summer 2006, when to street shooting portraits, the owner of the local antique shop postcard him Offered His first professional job, His daughter's wedding shooting. Having no idea how to shoot a wedding and HAVING only one camera (Canon ca Reflex digital 5d) one lens (85mm f1.2 L an ultra fast portrait lens) and I have not shot the wedding flashgun on available light all relying on instinct alone, reacting to the events and the people as I found Them at a discreet distance, nobody posing and faking nothing.

Exchanging html design classes for historical Inglés classes with a local computer programmer I built His first website to put up the pictures on the internet. The home made website of historical photos Was An instant success and from then on I found Suddenly I Was a "wedding photographer" traveling across Europe to shoot historical web visitors' weddings.

"Verdana", "sans-serif", "lang =" EN-US ">

Dissatisfied with the Focus perfection of modern digital images and seeking an alternative look for historical pictures I started Adapting analog lenses (I have extracted from old broken cameras with a large metal hammer We Understand) onto digital historical reflex using masking tape and microphone built from DIY lighting stands, disco lights and Kelvin correction gelatin discarded by Technicians on His acting jobs.

In autumn 2006 I Bought His first film camera from 1980's Russian point-and-shoot (a cult Lomo LCA) using Some very expired color film They Were throwing out of the local photography store. Delighted with the vintage colors and dreamlike Qualities I look back hasn't. I continued to shoot Almost Exclusively analog cameras, still preferring the Oldest I CAN find expired film, shunning the contemporary digital Photoshop post-produced look of current commercial & fashion photography, in favor of the grittier, earthier, whether unpredictability of expired color negative film , slides, black & white or Polaroid type instant film.

Edward Freely admits That It Was not Until I Bought His First Hasselblad in 2007 (the classic V series 500c / m with Carl Zeiss T * lenses) I have really found That instrument of historical choice. I still use cameras for Other Reasons of Variety, speed, ultra fast lenses or the discretion and convenience of a compact 35mm camera But Takes a pair of 6x6 V series cameras & wheelie bag loaded with 120 & 220 film backs, as I says, When I really Means Business. Hasselblad Slideshow of historical work: http://www.flickr.com/photos/edwardolive/sets/72157600189073777/show/

Outside weddings Edward's pictures range from street photography to nudes, oftener Combining historical location wedding travel to shoot personal projects inspired by the new places & people, Admitting He Still Takes More photos for Himself just for fun Than I does to try and sell Later to clients , Taking Some consolation from the Ideas that come from new expression, reinvention & experimentation, free from commercial and Stock Pressure, Later That Can Be Applied at work to put food on the table.

Edward's wedding photography style is still, as It Was on His first assignment, Instinctive, Unprepared and natural, preferring to keep an open mind, only reacting to the events as They unfold, at times keeping genes discreet and shooting off long lenses and at times getting Into the thick of the parties as Just Another guest ... and in the wildest dog weddings Latino Be seen shooting historical events pictures dancing merengue with female guest in one hand and camera in the Other.

Edward's reportages Are Typically Focus on the capture of emotion: the groom hugging His best friend from Australia, the little girl crying under the table, the best man Whose lip trembles DURING His speech, the father of the bride with eyes closed on the dance floor at 4:00 a.m. with drink in the air to favorite tune ... but Often Involve Also candid trademark sensual and erotic images of historical events brides & female wedding guests. His work as I describe in Un Certain shots Often Treading on the limits of catholic mothers in law What Can Be Persuaded to Remain calm over Their lead lined Without swinging handbags at the Foreign photographer.

Edward AIMS to work the project in historical and Contradictions That contrasts exist withn Within Himself and people in general. He wears Italian silk suits to work But Takes Some Shots That step out of line. Perhaps I use the world's best cameras and lenses yet Them feeds at times with the worst Chinese made "black and white" That film has in reality Neither network dreamy black white north blurred images.   A perfect combination of the internal private and public image THOUGHTS That combine to make up the People We Are, conforming and breaking Society's norms. His Aim Is to one day Attain the vocal control of Pavarotti yet to turn it on Sex Pistols style head hits Refusing to sing correct notes.

That admits Edward's historical studies of Stanislavski and work as helper Have him professional actor in historical wedding photography Concentrating on the capture of real emotions, the desire to Obtain a cinematographic look and an obsession to Eliminate Any hint of over acting work in historical portraiture. However I have to say is the first historical Both That is really acting and photography and more Fundamentally a form of self expression to Convey Emotions Through the use of the third person, emotions That in His own personal life I have Finds Difficult to release more. Historical photography in the capture of the emotions of Others in His acting work and the "theatrical mask" that is the portrayal of a character.

Ironically Edward Said has Earliest historical years from I never wanted to get married Himself, events Admitting That Just seeing the grooms standing at the front of the Cathedrals with ever
